Blackwell's Parish Church, St Werburgh's , has a bronze Memorial Plaque with the names of 61 men of the Parish who lost their lives in The Great War, 1914-1918.
30 of these names are also listed on the Newton War Memorial, Newton being one of the villages which make up Blackwell Parish. St Werburgh's is in the hamlet now known as Old Blackwell, the other villages being Blackwell, Hilcote and Westhouses.
